I’ve been meaning to do this post for awhile, but it somehow fell by the wayside. (That sounds way better than ‘I totally forgot about it,’ right??)
But timing is clearly a stroke of kismet, because what better time to talk about getting organized than on the eve of the new year?? I know a lot of people out there are looking for the “perfect organizer,” so I wanted to share what I’ve been using.
**spoiler alert** It’s not an expensive name brand!
What is it?
I was wandering the aisles of Target one day, when I came across these fabulous little binder organizers. They’re made by Avery, and they have a ton of great products to build your own organizer! We’re talking binders, dividers, calendar pages (weekly and monthly), zipper pouches, etc. It’s fabulous!
The best thing- I can build my binder to EXACTLY what I need.
I got the red leather binder that you see above from Staples- it’s part of the Martha Stewart collection. Target has a ton of different designs, but I really wanted it to be soft-sided like a dayplanner.
Everything else, I got from my local Target store!
The Rundown- How I personalized my organizer
Isn’t it pretty???
The dividers are clear with great colors on the tabs. I wanted to play with mine, so I used scrapbook paper and cut out the size and shape of the dividers as a colorful backing for each section.
Personally, I think the scrapbook pages were a stroke of genius, and absolutely fabulous!
When I made mine, I included the following sections:
- Handicraft and Whimsy
>>I wanted a separate calendar for my scheduling (birthdays, anniversaries, projects, assignments, holidays…), and a separate calendar to track my workouts<<
It’s working out really great, and it’s so much easier to hold myself accountable with my workout calendar!
The weekly and monthly calendar pages are great, because you date them yourself and can start and finish at any point- no January through December pre-set pages.
I use the weekly pages for my workout tracker and daily calendar.
The note pages are AMAZING! I use these in my notes section and blog section. They’re the perfect size for lists, reminders, journaling…pretty much anything you could want to use them for!
The monthly calendar, I’m iffy about. I haven’t used it much yet, but I’m sticking with it to see if I start to.
That’s the great thing about this planner though!
As I figure out how I’m actually using it, I can change it to be exactly what I need, and it doesn’t cost a lot of money!
And since everything is sold separately, I can buy as much or as little of each thing as I need (more note pages, perhaps??)
QOTD: What are your organizing goals for the new year? Have you found a planner that works perfectly for you?
